PC to TV connection

It's actually really easy to connect a laptop to a TV as long as both the laptop and the tv have S-Video Ports.

S-Video is the most common method because an S-Video cable is pretty cheap and just about every TV has an S-Video port. But you will have to make sure your laptop is equipped with this port. You can buy S-Video cables at almost all electronic stores. There are two types of S-Video cables: 4-pin and 7-pin. Most laptops have a 7-pin port, so if your TV only has a 4-pin S-Video port, then this will not work. The S-Video cable will only move the picture to the TV, but not the sound, so you will need to get an audio cable and connect to the laptop headphone and to the TV audio-in. Also you will need to open the "display settings" on your computer and change the output to the TV screen. You can make the display screen on the computer on the TV also or you can extend the display just like a dual monitor screen (which is so great since I can watch movies that I downloaded online on my TV screen and still check my email and be online at the same time!!). After changing the display settings, you will need to change your TV from 'Video 1" to Video 2", and then you should be good to go.

Another note, I had problems getting my TV to recognize the external display because I realized that I had to make sure I connected the cable to the TV before turning on the computer, otherwise it failed.
